Meet Janeen Hayward

aka "The Sleep Fairy"

I’ve been a sleep coach since 2005, before I became a mother myself. However, when my daughter started to experience intense separation anxiety after starting nursery school, I understood the strong emotional pull to provide comfort in the middle of the night. It didn’t take long for this to take a toll on the mood and energy of the entire family. When I remember to look from the perspective of meeting my child’s emotional needs, I was able provide security and comfort while creating boundaries around sleep. My daughter started to sleep better immediately. My education in clinical psychology, along with my experience as a practitioner and mother allows me to take a whole child perspective and to build a strategy to guide parents to meet their child’s sleep needs and emotional needs at the same time.

Connection & Love

  • The exhaustion you’re feeling from the cycle of sleepless nights may be affecting your ability to care for yourself, your focus and productivity and your relationships with the people you love the most.

  • Imagine, if you were able to help your child sleep through the night you'd have more time for yourself, more energy, clarity and focus.

  • You’d be empowered to be proactive versus reactive to your child.

  • Your relationship with yourself, your child and those you hold most dear would strengthen.

  • Most parents in your situation come to me for help feeling as though they tried everything from reward charts to punishments to any number of suggestions from friends or pediatricians. However, nearly all sleep solutions target the behavior not the underlying need. As a result, many of those recommendations simply won’t work. Sadly, some actually make things worse.

  • The strategies that I share with my clients are rooted in the understanding that a healthy connection and loving communication and boundaries create a sense of emotional safety and security, building not only healthy sleep, but healthy relationships.

Sleeping Through the Night

Melissa Errico McEnroe

Janeen personally transformed the way I lived as a mother, and helped our house immeasurably. When I met her, I was worried about sleep, sleepless and unsure about how to get more sleep for me and for my daughter. Janeen guided me with gentleness and incredible respect, and shared her knowledge in a way that was so empowering. She has no hard-and-fast rules, adjusts to your needs, and never loses sight of a child's developmental needs. I have recommended her to a circle of friends, and she has been a great part of our lives as new parents.
